Fanficton.net rant.
wtf, ff.net? what is your problem?
I thought we were above this. you haven't crapped out this badly in years.
Here's how it goes.
I started on ff.net in 2003 for things like Final Fantasy and Zelda games. and when I started reading Twilight mid 2006, I decided to come creeping on ff.net again. That was when I really started using the alert system and everything.
When I first started writing fanfiction was when I noticed what a crap place ff.net was, though it was the best source for fics. There were constantly problems, with trying to edit coduments properly, and with the whole alert system. It worked, then it didn't work.
AND THEN FOR A FEW MONTHS THEY MADE UPGRADES AND FOR A WHILE THERE IT WAS THE AWESOMEST PLACE TO WORK. Like really; there were never any glitches with the various alerts, there weren't anymore; hey you can't upload your documents problems. There weren't any problems with document manager.
They made updrades, like the beta reader profiles, which sounds like a really neat idea to me! I'm more of a freelance beta, so I didn't make a profile, but all of the upgrades and changes they made were so awesome
Then, after I posted the five new stories at once, I noticed the document manager was being a bitch.
and now this.
ff.net, you have gone back to your crappy ways.
why?!
My biggest problem with FF.net is that it's not a very user friendly site. I have no idea who the people running it are, how many people there are. I have no way of contacting anyone when there is something wrong! There used to be a 'if this problem persist please email us here:' thing, but I have no way of getting that now.
i really think there should be some moderators, or administrators. Someone set for each category, each book, show, whatever. Someone with a penname, that we could pm, sort of like BK. I'd like to see rules enforced, people kicking out the really awful fics that are pretty much breaking all rules (there was one where bella had sex with michael jackson and had a bunch of kids and then edward wanted her back, so she said okay, and mj was sad) -that one used to post a new story for each chapter. god.
But nooo.
and now, I'm not even sure that they know these problems are back. The news section on the front page hasn't been updated in a long time.
God. FF.net, if I didn't need you so badly to live, i'd be pissed and go somewhere else.
jeez.

umm...
BUT you are completely right. It's screwed. Only it's not actually that bad. The document manager doesn't screw me over all the time. Only sometimes.
A story about MJ and Bella?? *shudder* um, creepy.
And yes, I've been thinking that FF.net should have moderators, like on forums, for a long time. It would be impossible for them to read all the fics, though.
Great rant, EMMA!!
And then do you ever get an alert, but when you click on the link gives you one of those you-have-to-wait-fifteen-minutes-or-more notices? God. Those piss me off so much, because you get all excited about reading the new chapter, or whatever, but it's just FF.net being an asshole D:<
I've always been annoyed with how anonymous the people maintaining the site are. If there's ever a problem, I can never figure out a way to contact them.
I really like LJ for a lot of things that FF.net lacks in -like easy to reach mods, for example. Plus, most of the fics aren't total crapola.

I HATE FANFICTION.NET WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS.
Except that I'm completely addicted. But the site itself sucks. Not to mention most of the Twilight stories nowadays... GAHHHAHAHHHHH!!! If only Pel's site was more user-friendly... and not so down on our kind of fanfiction.... :(

It's not random at all, actually. I met one of my best friends from fanfiction, she only lives two hours away!
I live in Clarenville, and that's two hours from town, St. John's
So what did you think of Breaking Dawn?
Breaking Dawn was *excellent*
Yeah...
I totally love the stories you write, I put the ones I've read in my faves. :)
